THE FIDDLEMITES – SNEAK PEEK

CHAPTER 1: SERGEANT LAQUITA

At 0900 hours came a debriefing that was not scheduled.

Sergeant LaQuita from the 127th Deployed Cocoon of highly trained combat caterpillars with specializing wings appeared before Commander Quickles.

She presented him with a certified leaf roll stating his new orders.

Sergeant LaQuita was to replace him as the new post commanding butterfly of the Fiddlemites.

“I am needed back at the home base,” Commander Quickles said.

“I am to oversee the new cocoon recruits,” he stated.

     “Yes, Commander,” said the Sergeant.

“They are expecting you at headquarters by the end of week,” Sergeant LaQuita replied.

“The new recruits will be hatching soon.”

“They will need your training during the molting period,” she explained.

“Let me get Private Qbert to show you to your barracks,” said the Commander.

“After lunch, I will show you around the base.”

“You can meet the Fiddlemites then.”

     “That is all,” he stated.

Commander Quickles was indeed saddened by these new orders.

He had never had a cocoon crew like this one.

He was proud of their successful missions.

Commander Quickles worried greatly about his crew adapting to the new Sergeant.

She was a highly ranked women in the Butterfly Military.

The Fiddlemites have never served with a female crew member.

They have never taken orders from a female.

The Commander finished his morning preparing orders for the Sergeant.

She could follow them the first few weeks of her new post.

He also planned the schedule for the training drills and meditational music.

He had hoped it would help ease Sergeant LaQuita and the Fiddlemites into a new routine.

Then he started packing.
